I for one appreciate your diaristic writeups Matt, it gives us a peek into the offline life of our favorite immigration attorney. Will the WBUR panel you were on be available online at all? I can't seem to find it
I'm going to have to listen to that podcast episode on right wing deadheads, I was astounded when I learned Tucker was a huge fan. I know the old hippies can have some confused politics but it remains baffling to me.
I saw Neil Young and Pearl Jam play that song at one of the Bridge School Benefit shows all the way back in 1999. [1] It was also one of the first shows The Who had played in like 10 years. [2] Green Day and Corgan & Iha from The Smashing Pumpkins also played. It was one of the rockingest concerts to ever rock. [3]
----
[1] initially I thought the show was in the early 2000s, then I looked up what year it was and goddamn I feel old now
[2] well, 3/4 of The Who, technically
[3] which is saying something, since the all the BSB shows were acoustic
Now she put the kid away and she’s gone to get a hit
She hates her life and what she’s done to it
There’s one more kid that’ll never go to school
Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool"
The crack baby will "never get to be cool" because he will be dead. He won't get to do anything. I'm not sure I see what your point about "cringe" is, but I often miss what other people see as cringe.

Matt,
"I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
There's an old street light
Near a garbage can
Now she put the kid away and she’s gone to get a hit
She hates her life and what she’s done to it
There’s one more kid that’ll never go to school
Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool"
