Appreciate all the insight and humanity you bring to each OA show and now here on Substack. Thank you for both the hope you inspire and your relentless fighting spirit in the way you practice law. Thank you for your Substack. I have admired and valued your concise illumination of immigration law and procedures — even though so much of what I learn from you shows how cruelly and shamefully our laws and procedures treat immigrants and would-be immigrants.

Does it seem likely that they thought they were just nabbing someone with a student visa who they could make a quick example of, and have now (as usual) gotten into much deeper water? Not that logic and reason have to be involved, I guess, but this seems like an awful lot of trouble for the State Department just to mess with a campus radical.

this is so very bad - and why they moved him to LA to get to 5th circuit. if this doesn't hold on appeals, agree we are done. how could they not use it against anyone protesting, expressing concern or opposition to a foreign policy?
